ARTIST STATEMENTArt is a reflection of the self-the essence of what the artist sees and feels. It is through the process of creating that the art and the artist become inseparable, deepening a symbiotic relationship of awareness,interdependence and truth. The inspiration for my paintings comes from various sources-my imagination,the actual object in hand, or photographs which are used to expand my ideas. I love flowers and fascinated by how different ones either capture light or let light pass through them. Whether I'm painting a floral, silver, glass or fabric, getting light into my paintings is very important to me. From subtle, transparent washes to brilliant bursts of color, graceful forms, mysterious movements of light and shadow, iridescent feathers, and sparkling crystal and silver-- the viewer's visual sense is energized. My large-scale watercolor paintings captivate you with a totally sensual experience-the call of a rare bird, the crystal sheen of a paperweight-the perfume of exotic flowers-the taste of a fresh apple.
